Some require tutors to have a degree, teaching certificate, or considerable teaching experience while others accept tutors without any of those qualifications.
The important thing is to be sure to pay keen attention to each site’s requirements to figure out which one works for you.
In general, however, there are some almost obvious things you’ll require before you can start applying for online tutoring jobs.

You don’t need a degree, teaching certificate, or teaching experience whatsoever. You only need a device with a good internet connection and you can start chatting with students and get paid.
On Cambly, you get paid every week through PayPal, which is quite amazing.
You also get to choose how much or how little you want to work as there are no minimum required hours for tutoring on the platform.

2. Magic Ears
Magic Ears is looking for Native English speakers to teach 4-12-year-old children in China.
To be accepted as a tutor on Magic Ears, you’ll need to have a bachelor’s degree, or have proof that you’re actively pursuing one.
You’ll also need an ESL certificate but you can opt to get one while submitting your application.
Once your Magic Ears application is approved and you start teaching, you’ll be paid on the 10th working day of the following month through PayPal or Bank Transfer.

3. QKids
QKids is another amazing online tutoring website.
Much like Magic Ears, the students on QKids are between the ages of 4 through 12 and they reside in China.
On QKids, you’ll be teaching kids in group classes. A group can consist of up to 4 kids per class and most classes last for about 30 minutes.
Since you’ll be teaching young ones, QKids requires tutors to have a bachelor’s degree + a minimum teaching certificate such as TESOL or TEFL. (If you don’t have these, you can easily get one online)
You also must be eligible to work in the U.S. or Canada and be willing to commit to at least 6 hours of teaching per week.

The company is based in St. Louis, Missouri, and it accepts Native English speakers from USA or Canada.
To become a tutor on this platform, you’ll need to have a bachelor’s degree and be eligible to work in the U.S.
The classes you’ll be teaching will be group classes and you’ll have the option to choose how many students you can teach per class.
The platform also pays through PayPal on a twice-weekly basis, which is pretty sweet.

If you are here looking for online tutoring jobs for college students, Preply is probably where you should start.
Preply has no minimum requirements, you know, except the general ones we discussed in the introduction.
To become a tutor on Preply, you’ll only need a good understanding of the English language and a passion for teaching.
The platform does not require a degree, teaching certificate, or any teaching experience.
Once you’re accepted as a tutor and you start teaching, Preply allows you to withdraw your earnings through one of the following services.

VIPKid is one of the largest and most popular online learning websites.
The company is based in Beijing China, and its platform offers one-on-one classes to Chinese students of ages 4 through 12.
To apply for tutoring at VIPKid, you are required to have a bachelor’s degree, 2 years of experience teaching or tutoring, and a teaching certificate (TESOL/TEFL/CELTA).
You are also required to be eligible to work in the U.S.
If your application is accepted, VIPKid has no minimum hours requirement, this means you get to choose how much or how little you work and make money on the platform.
Once you are teaching there, you can either choose to be paid weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly through either PayPal or Direct Deposit.

Once you apply and get accepted, you’ll be able to tutor students from wherever using either your computer, tablet or even your smartphone.

To be able to work on this platform, you’ll need to have a good command of the English language.

So if you are a college student looking to make money from tutoring, this platform is perfect for you.

The HAWO American Academy is one of the leading online tutoring platforms.
As a HAWO tutor, you’ll be helping young Chinese kids learn how to speak English.

The main way that Course Hero tutors make money is by answering questions posed by students on the platform.
You might be thinking… really? Just answering questions?
Yes. As a Course Hero tutor, you’ll only answer questions in written format and get paid (via PayPal).
According to the website, their top tutors make around $1500 per month.

On this platform, you’ll be teaching students in 1-on-1 sessions that have to be at least 60 minutes long and can go up to 2 hours.
To be accepted as a tutor here, you have to be a U.S. citizen. You’ll also need to hold a degree or be enrolled in an accredited university in the U.S.

StudyGate is a site that is primarily focused on helping students in North America and Asia with their homework.
To get accepted on StudyGate, it’s not required to have a degree, but you’ll be asked to provide some proof that you are currently a college student.
According to the site, some of the top-earning tutors make about $50 to $200 per question which equals upwards of $10K per month.

Tutors.com is another great site that I found offering online tutoring opportunities.
This site allows you to create a free tutor profile and showcase to students your personality, experience, and expertise.
When you set up your profile on Tutors.com, you’ll also set your own rates.
According to the site, most of their tutors charge around $50 per hour which is quite good pay compared to the other sites we’ve covered in this post.
You also don’t require a degree to set up your tutor profile on this site.
You’ll only need a high school diploma or a GED as there are many jobs there that don’t require you to have a degree.

15. Yup
If you are a great fan of Math and would enjoy teaching it to others, then Yup is the platform after your own heart.
This site is mainly focused on Math and delivers high-quality Math tutoring to its students.
For the tutor application, you’ll have to pass a Math test and conduct a teaching exercise before you can be accepted at Yup.
You’ll also need to have a good grasp of the English language and have graduated from an accredited University. You may also be accepted if you are currently a student in an accredited University.
You however don’t need to be a U.S. citizen, they accept applications worldwide just as long as you meet the requirements.

In this system of theirs, students pose questions on the platform and then you, the tutor, answer through text providing detailed solutions and explanations.
So in essence, a teaching session on StudyPool usually involves just responding to questions posed by your students.
You don’t need a degree to be accepted at StudyPool, but you do need to be enrolled at an accredited University.
This site is also now accepting tutor applications from all over the world.

EF Education First offers online tutoring services to kids in the U.S. and the UK.
To be accepted as a tutor on this site, you’ll need to either be a U.S. or UK citizen. You’ll also need to have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
Aside from the degree, EF also requires applicants to be certified teachers, meaning you have to hold a TEFL certificate to be accepted.

You’ll also need to have a teaching certificate and if you have knowledge of other languages like Spanish, Korean, or Vietnamese, they are considered an advantage.

This site allows tutors to quickly create a free tutor profile and gain instant access to their tutor job board.
On the job board, you can browse and apply for whatever tutoring job you’d like to work on. While setting up your tutor profile on Wyzant, you also get to set your own hourly rate.
This offers a lot of flexibility and it allows you to be able to scale your tutoring business over time, unlike other sites we’ve covered that only pay a flat rate.
You are not required to have a degree or teaching certification to work on this site. You however need to be at least 18 years old and reside in the United States.

Much like Wyzant, this site also gives you the flexibility to choose and design your classes the way you see fit.
On Superprof, you create a tutoring ad showcasing your experience and expertise and what you have to offer your students. The student then contacts you after interacting with your tutor ad and initiates the session.
You also get to set your own pay rate and teaching methodology.
To get started tutoring on this site, you don’t need a degree, teaching certificate, or teaching experience. You’ll only need to be 18 years of age and have valid proof of identity.
